Submission instructions

1. The International Workshop on Media and plural identities in multicultural Europe offers the opportunity to present papers on various thematic tracks:

  • The audio-visual contents of public broadcasters
  • The construction of cultural and national imaginary through the media
  • Rigour and pluralism in the public broadcasters’ news
  • The management of linguistic diversity in public broadcasters
  • New media formats and new narrative formulas
  • Public broadcasters in a social network environment

2. Participants must fill out this form and send it to the email address nexe@fundacionexe.org with the subject: COMUNICACIÓ WORKSHOP MITJANS AUDIOVISUALS. This form should specify the title of the paper, a 500 words abstract  and 5 keywords, along with personal information (names, university or organisation, address, phone and email) before June, 30 july, 10

3. Only one proposal per author will be accepted, or a maximum of two in case of co-author.

4. Among the proposals received, the scientific committee will make a selection according to congress theme, based on quality and interest of the papers. Selected papers notification will be before July, 10 july, 20

5. The authors of selected papers must register electronically and make the payment before September, 17. Payment instructions will be send to the authors by email.

6. Congress fee for selected papers is 50 euros (25 euros for students). In case of joint authorship, each co-author must register individually and make the payment.

7. All papers submission are due September, 17. Authors must send full papers in format and extension described below to the email address nexe@fundacionexe.org, specifying the subject: COMUNICACIÓ WORKSHOP MITJANS AUDIOVISUALS.

8. Selected papers will be presented by the author (or one of the authors if co-authorship). The presentation will take place during the Workshop on September, 21 and 22. The order of interventions will be established after selection procedure.

9. Most interesting papers will be selected for a future publication of academic interest. Accepted papers for publication notification will be on September, 29.

10. To be part of the publication, the authors must send the final article before October, 31 (see guidelines for authors below). Those texts that do not meet the authors’ guidelines will be returned to their authors.

11. Papers in Catalan, Spanish and English are accepted.

12. Papers must be unpublished and have a minimum of 6.000 words and 8.000 words maximum. Papers should be in Word format (Times New Roman 12, spacing 1.5, justified margin) and sent to the email address nexe@fundacionexe.org with the subject: PUBLICACIÓ WORKSHOP COMUNICACIÓ MEDIÀTICA

13. Text footnotes should be limited and the author must incorporated all information in the body of the text. If they are strictly necessary, footnotes will have the following format: Times New Roman 10, single spaced, justified margin.

14. Citations: citations will be quoted in the text. For quotations that are more than four lines, place quotations in a free-standing block of text starting the quotation on a new line, with the entire quote indented.

15. References are always made in the text with the format: (author, year, pages). Example: (Martinez, 1997: 24-27). At the end of the text, list the bibliography cited in accordance with the following format:

  • Books: Turkle, Sherry (1997). Life on the screen. Identity in the Age of the Internet, New York: Touchstone.
  • Book Chapters: STRATTON, John (1997). “Cyberspace and the Globalization of Culture”, David Porter (ed.). Internet Culture, New York & London: Routledge, pp. 253-275.
  • Journal articles: Starr, Paul F. (1997). “The sacred, the regional and the digital,” The Geographical Review, 87 (2), pp. 193-218.
  • Articles sw release: TOURAINE, Alain. (2005, June 12). “The impotence of European social democracy”, El País, pp. 16-17.
  • Internet: Quotations middle of the text is done the same way as any other source literature. The reference-listed will MARCOS MARIN, F. (2005). “Digita Technology”.

16. When several works by the same author and year are included in the bibliography:

  • (Vázquez, 1990): first mentioned work.
  • (Vázquez, 1990b): second mentioned work.

17. The title of the paper will be in bold with capitalized letters. In a new line added information about the author, university/organisation and email. The different sections of the text should be marked in bold lower case. The different sections of the text should be marked in bold lower case.

18. If the text have some kind of funding or it is a part of a research project, this information will be added as a title footnote marked with *.
